| | | The
Laystall Cromard results from the development of a
successful racing vehicle of Laystall engineering for Bob
Spikins. For this an engine of Lea Francis from the one and
a half-litres class in a Amilcar chassis was used. |
| At
the same time one increased the achievement, in which one
exchanged the existing engine against around 267 ccm larger.
Carried new 1,767 out ccm engine now approximately 140 bhp,
what corresponds to about 142 HP. Enterprises became engine
with a fuel on alcohol basis, the called Lea Francis
Speedway Racing engine. |
| Basil
de Mattos could likewise during its running in Chimay well
place itself, had however in consequence of a broken spring
briefly before conclusion give up. |
| There
is not a doubt over the fact that the Cromard would have
found its place as completely Formel-2 car also in the
international season 1952, if Spikins had survived. Instead
Laystall engineering sold the car. |
| Since
that time 1985 were restored the vehicle and are used
regularly with important historical racing meetings. |
| With
this vehicle it acts around a really rare rare piece with
good history. |
| In
particular the car is a good " ticket " for
hochkaraetige meetings, because the car is actually very
desired alone already. |
